Summarecon's first township development which started in 1975 is now a bustling town within Jakarta. Starting from an initial 10 hectares of land, Summarecon has over the years successfully developed and transformed this previous marsh land into a 550 hectares modern township with an address that is much sought after by the affluent community. The township has earned praise of being a prestigious and elite location. To date, we have built about 30,000 houses and 2.850 apartment units for the residential clusters, and another 2.150 shoplots for the commercial neighborhoods. Recent completed projects include the Sherwood Apartments, Sherwood Residence (houses) and Kensington Commercial (shoplots). An ongoing project is The Kensington Apartments & Kensington Office.
The township continues to thrive and attract newcomers, as it becomes more and more complete with facilities like schools, hospitals, places of worship, a hotel, offices and a sports/ recreational club. With its vibrant economy, most of the top local and foreign banks have set up branches in Kelapa Gading, further fueling commerce in the township.
